Every summer I think about buying an ice cream maker but then don’t for several reasons. First, do I want another appliance I will only use occasionally that’s taking up cabinet space, and second, do I want to spend money on something that again, I most likely won’t use that often? But homemade ice cream does taste so good…
So I was hopeful when I saw a video on Facebook showing how to make a homemade ice cream using only 2 ingredients, plus whatever flavorful ingredients you like, using only a mixer and bowl. When we had the grandsons over for a visit, I decided that would be a perfect time to try it out, since they could be my taste-testers. We kept it simple, using only one additional ingredient that the boys each chose and once we got the ice cream mix made up, they got to doctor it up with their ingredient…of course you can go crazy and add as much fruit, nuts, chocolate, or whatever you want.
Only 2 ingredients to make your ice cream base…
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 14-oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
And as long as your child can hold a mixer, easy enough for them to make…
Pour the heavy whipping cream in a large bowl and mix till soft peaks form. Add the sweetened condensed milk and mix till thick and well-combined.
Choose your favorite ingredients to add in…the boys chose healthy fruit, while I chose to use some chopped up Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
Stir in the ingredients, cover, and freeze for 6 hours.
Six hours later…it’s done…and tastes delicious!
