Here’s a fun and easy thing to do on Christmas Eve, which may be so successful it becomes a holiday tradition in your home. Make a Christmas Eve Box, which can be opened on Christmas Eve.
Get an empty cardboard box, a crate or even a shoebox, depending on what you’re going to fill it with.
Depending on who you’re making the box for will determine what you fill it with. A fun family box could be filled with a Christmas movie, book, slippers for everyone, a holiday blanket, popcorn, and cocoa. Then on Christmas Eve, you open it and the family has an evening of holiday fun all ready to go.
Puzzles, Christmas cookies, socks, robes, fun mugs for the cocoa and mini marshmallows would be fun too. Whatever your family might enjoy doing together can be placed in the box. You can also make an individual box for each person in the family.
If you’ll be cozy-ing up with your honey, add a bottle of wine or gourmet popcorn. We always let the cats have a present on Christmas Even and then spend countless hours watching them play…as we sip our wine.
Candles, bubble bath, chocolates and a bottle of bubbly would be fun items to add for a romantic evening.
You could even make a “game” out of filling the box. Take everyone to a dollar store and let the kids pick out something they think mom and dad would enjoy on Christmas Eve or stay on budget by filling it up with only dollar store finds. Going to the thrift stores keeps things within a budget too. You can find tons of pajamas, Christmas books and movies, hot chocolate mugs, etc. (Just make sure you shop with enough time to launder anything.)
Just some ideas for a fun Christmas Eve that you can enjoy with whoever you spend the evening with…
