Yesterday I spent the morning at Goodwill of Colorado, along with FOX21 Morning News Reporter, Sarah Ferguson, where we spent the day showcasing fun and fabulous springtime fashion for less. From bolds and brights to textures and prints, our models looked fabulous!
COLOR TRENDS
Bold, bright colors, along with all shades green, are trending this season.
From left to right –
Sarah is wearing a Lane Bryant dress in bright red (dresses typically run around $90) we found for $12.99.
Sophia’s in the super cute navy Knitworks dress which runs on average $50 but cost only $2.99 and was in perfect condition.
FOX21 Morning Reporter, Sarah Ferguson’s bright green dress, purse and shoes $23.00.
Ashley’s shoes and Ivanka Trump dress $19.00.
My green and white dress, sneakers, hat, scarf and purse was only $16!
Sandra is wearing an olive green Jennifer Lopez dress and those shoes!!! ($16)
Georgia’s in the Lauren Conrad green and white polka dot dress $6.99 (LC dresses typically run $50 to $60)
I think we all look stylish and ready for warmer weather! All together, our outfits totaled about $96! That’s seven fabulous outfits for under $100!
It’s always a pleasure for me to film with Goodwill of Colorado and FOX21 News, and this guy here, FOX21 News Photojournalist, Shawn Shanle, is one of the reasons it’s so much fun! He’s usually behind the scenes but today, well, let’s just say he got in the swing of things and found some pretty wild outfits! It was hard not to laugh all day at his fashion finds.
It doesn’t get much bolder or brighter…
TEXTURES & PRINTS
From knits to lace, to crochet and beaded embellishments, along with some florals and frills…
From left to right – Sarah Ferguson’s hat, shoes, and dress under $20, Sarah’s crochet and fringed sleeve dress $4.90!, Sophia in the sweet gingham Epic Threads dress $2.99, Ashley’s flowing maxi $7.99, my shoes, hat and dress came in at about $21, Georgia in the black and white Hot Kiss ruffled hem pants and black lacy top $10, Sandra in neon coral leopard Yoana Baraschi top (original price $215) with Loft colored jeans $13 (versus a brand new price of about $275) and Goodwill of Colorado, Bradd Hafer, Manager, Marketing & Communications, is wearing one of the best finds! His jacket is from a very upscale men’s store in downtown Colorado Springs, which would cost over $200 but was only $2.50!!
I personally have shopped at Goodwill of Colorado for years and years. I’d say 75% of all my clothes hanging in the closet are from Goodwill.
- Goodwill of Colorado provides career development and community programs and resources for over 100,000 Coloradans with disadvantages each year – including military veterans, seniors, youth, and individuals with developmental and economic challenges. Through its thrift retail operations, donations, social enterprises, corporate partnerships and recycling processes, Goodwill has worked for more than a century in Colorado to ensure individuals have access to career and life pathways that allow them to live to their fullest potential and achieve their highest level of independence.
ATHLEISURE
Athleisure wear was already becoming a staple before COVID and it’s still trending. But those casual looks can really add up. Here are a few examples of comfort and style without spending a fortune. You’ll notice I have Sarah and Sandra in dresses, which are so comfy, they could be sweats, but oh so much more fashionable. (Not everyone wants to wear a waistband!)
SPECIAL OCCASIONS
Easter, baby or wedding showers, weddings, prom, special date nights…for any “special occasion” this spring or summer, Goodwill of Colorado has something equally “special” but for way less than the department stores.
Sarah’s Olivia K jumpsuit could be worn to a wedding, on a cruise, or on a night out. Flattering and comfortable for only $6.99 and Sophia was rocking the runway in this ruffly ($3.99) Sweet Heart Rose dress.
I love Ashley’s bohemian look…sheerness, lace, fringe…$34.
My dress (with the pink scarf) is something I picked up at Goodwill of Colorado about ten years ago for $1.99 and have worn at least a couple of dozen times. Next to me is Georgia, in the beautiful David’s Bridal red dress, which would be perfect for any special occasion including a black-tie event or prom, priced at only $12.99. And Sandra’s dress, perfect for cocktails or date night, along with the shoes and little clutch, was only $26!
And once again, Shawn was really feeling the vibe!
LAYERS (It’s Still Cold in Colorado!)
Our days may get warmer in the spring, but in Colorado the evenings can still be cool (30’s and 40’s) so layering is key to keeping comfortable.
So, I somehow lost my notes with pricing for this segment, but trust me, all our looks were super inexpensive!
Sarah Ferguson pulled her layered look together in about 10 minutes. Love the pop of pink.
It was a great day of fun and fashion. Much thanks to the staff at the Goodwill of Colorado Kelly Johnson location for all their help while we were shopping for the models!
And for any of you wondering what Sarah Ferguson and Shawn Shanle are up to in between filming, and why I love filming with them, well, just take a look. Ha!
And much thanks to all my models, who just so happen to all be good friends of mine. Getting up super early to get hair and makeup done and arriving at 6 in the morning and then filming for about 3 hours makes for a long day.
