The first day of spring this year is Sunday, March 20th and I for one am ready to dump the sweats and oversized hoodies for something lighter and brighter.
Spring trends this year will lean towards micro-minis, bright and bold colors, textures like crochet and lace, relaxed denim, florals and cutouts. Softer hues and pastels, along with whites will also be hot for spring and summer. From easy, flowy, and simple to luxurious and gorgeous, it seems like the trends have an “anything goes mood” which means there’s a “trend” for everyone.
Today, for the first time in a couple of years (COVID!) we’re filming live at Goodwill of Colorado with Sarah Ferguson, the Live and Local Morning Reporter for FOX21 Morning News to showcase a few of this year’s fashion trends…for less.
Trends come and go, some become iconic and will always be in fashion, and for the most part, at some point, will recycle and become popular again. For looks I might want to try but not necessarily spend a ton of money on, Goodwill of Colorado is one of my favorite places to shop.
Not all trends or colors look great on everyone so pick and choose trends to incorporate into your wardrobe, based on your preferences, your lifestyle and where you live. Spring in Texas or Florida is a bit different than spring in Colorado when we can still get snow and low temperatures.
Tomorrow I’ll have full descriptions and pictures of all our fabulous models and what they wore live today, along with pricing.
Here are a few of the top spring trend predictions, which you’ll see can vary quite a bit, which makes it easy for everyone to find something perfect for your own unique style.
According to WWD, the biggest color trends of 2022 are rooted in optimism, warmth, growth and excitement.

According to MARIE CLAIRE, loungewear is taking a backseat to more “empowering” pieces like mini skirts and bra tops, lighthearted prints and textures like gingham and crochet, head-to-toe bright whites, and more stream-lined mini cardigans/shrugs, which take the place of our big and baggy oversized cardigans of cold weather.
WHO WHAT WEAR predictions include looks that are “bright, cheery, and optimistic” without sacrificing the comfort we’re now used to, but dressing it up. Mixing prints and bold colors, incorporating funky jewelry and detailing with embellished accessories are some of their top looks to try.
Five spring trends to try according to WHO WHAT WEAR include…
- PUNCHY COLORS, PRIMARY AND BOLD…(BOOST YOUR MOOD!)
- CUTOUTS – STILL ON TREND WITH DEEPER CUTS AND ASYMETRICAL HEMS
- RELAXED DENIM
- RETRO AND VINTAGE FLORALS
- BABY-DOLL DRESSES
GLAMOUR predictions include…
- LOW-SLUNG WAISTS
- PLEATED SKIRTS
- LIQUID METAL (think golds and silvers in shimmering fabrics)
- WHITES
- ULTRA-MINI MINIS
- SUPER SHEER
- STRAPPY
- KNITS, CUT-OUTS, BULKY BAGS
- NEON YELLOW
- BULKY BAGS
- UNDERWEAR AS OUTERWEAR
- HYPER FEMININE
Stripes, chromatic, oversized pantsuits, gender-neutral cuts, and wrap dresses will also be big this spring. Denim can be relaxed, low-cut, high-cut, straight-cut, bootcut or basically pretty much whatever you feel comfortable in. The tight, skinny-cut is still popular but taking more of a backseat to the looser fits.
And while minis are smoking hot, maxi and midi lengths are still popular. Regardless of the old hem-line “rules” for age and shape, wear what makes YOU feel and look good.
It’s getting warmer outdoors and with COVID restrictions becoming looser, we’re ready to put on something fun and get back to “normal” life. Trends are fun ways to update your look. From an entire head-to-toe trendy look to a simple pop of color with accessories, do what works for your personal style, body type, lifestyle and budget. And when you shop at Goodwill of Colorado, you can try lots of fun looks and styles without breaking the bank. Bottom line, I say wear what makes you feel great!
And don’t forget to see all our models in their fun and fabulous finds, for less, tomorrow!
