My two favorite places to shop are at thrift stores and dollar stores…love the thrill of getting a great bargain! The dollar store I personally shop at is the Dollar Tree because it’s close to my house and I think they have great selections. All of my bargains below were purchased at the Dollar Tree…all for a dollar each.
This microfiber duster actually worked as well for me as the more expensive brands and it was perfect for the window blinds, picture frames and all the other dusty objects in my house. At this price, it’s easy to keep one on all the levels of your home, or give all the kids their own so they’ll never have an excuse for not dusting their room.
This is the same Betty Crocker cookie mix you’ll find at the grocery stores but it only costs $1.00. After baking during the holidays, I’m pretty tired of mixing and baking, but this will make a quick (and cheap) “homemade” treat for Super Bowl watching. This pouch makes 3 dozen cookies.
I use cooking utensils a lot, especially when we’re filming our cooking videos and I don’t have time to stop and wash things in between the meals we’re making. Each one of these Cooking Concepts utensilsĀ are a dollar each and they feel pretty sturdy, plus I like the color. They did have several different colors, including a ton of red Betty Crocker gadgets and utensils. Perfect for anyone starting out on their own, wanting to replace their stained or broken ones, or just to add some color to your kitchen….in an inexpensive way.
I just thought these dishes and glasses were fun. They would brighten up any table and I think they’d look especially festive for summer barbecues. They are dishwasher and microwave safe. Sometimes you can find boxed sets of dishes that equal out to be a little less than a dollar each but they always come with coffee cups and I don’t need any more coffee cups, which is why I think it’s nice to be able to just pick out what you use. There were also saucers that matched, but I didn’t really need those either. Lots of fun solids and patterns in great colors to choose from.
If you like drinking beer out of a mug, these are pretty nice for a dollar each. But they can of course hold any beverage of your choice. These are also fun to use for ice cream sodas.
So perhaps you’re young and don’t need pills yet…but if you do, well, this makes REMEMBERING if you took them or not a lot easier! This twice-a-day, 7 day pill organizer is a basic item you can find at any retail or drug store but you’ll pay more.
Another basic item you can find anywhere but I like the $1.00 sticker on this shoe box. It’s large enough to hold most of my shoes but I stocked up on these to use for storing my receipts and all the after Christmas ribbon I bought. I also am using these to store my linen napkins because the cabinet I kept them in is easily opened by our cats, and then they’d lay on them…I know, GROSS…these will keep them wrinkle-free and hairless! (The napkins, not the cats!)
I’ve seen lots of football paper platesĀ and napkins at all the stores, some very similar to these, except the others are more expensive. For $1.00 you get 14 plates or 20 napkins and these are just as sturdy as the other, more expensive ones I found. Makes entertaining on Super Bowl Sunday easier and cheaper. The Dollar Tree also has a lot of fun football banners, confetti, and other inexpensive football decor if you’ve throwing a party.
Another fun, yet cheap way to celebrate the big football game day….this platter is perfect for chips and dip, fruit, or whatever you might be serving to your football fans. And if you hand wash it, it will last for next year. I actually have a similar one I bought three years ago and it’s still in perfect condition. Of course if you don’t want to store it, you can toss it in the recycle bin and you’re only out a dollar. These mini footballs would look cute as centerpieces or tossed on tables. If you have kids coming over to watch the game, these are fun to send home with them. Even if you don’t have kids coming over, the “big ones” will probably enjoy tossing these around during commercials.
All of these are basic items you can find at anywhere, from the grocery store to specialty stores. But you’ll pay less if you buy them from a dollar store.
