I decorate for Halloween each year even though, when I’m putting everything away at the end of October I declare, “I’m not doing this next year!” We also have a big Halloween party so we of course are entertaining…(HAVE to have people over to make all the decorating worthwhile.) Decorations can be expensive so I always head to the dollar store first. (I go to the Dollar Tree stores because they are convenient for me.) Here’s the first of many finds I’ll find there…..
One dollar gets you 24 Halloween baking cups and picks. I love making cupcakes because when I’m pressed for time, I can pick up a cake mix and icing and create something quick and cheap. (I stock up when they go on sale for $1.00 or less.) Cupcakes are great for parties or as a treat for your co-workers….These can be up to three times more expensive if bought at other types of stores.
I just thought these drawstring candy bags were cute. (18 count for $1.00) I like to send our party guests home with goodies and these will be perfect for that….of course these are great for school parties or trick-or-treaters too.
For every holiday I decorate for, I buy decorations easy to trace. This bat will look great hanging from the ceiling but I can also trace this on black poster board and have more for less.
I did this last year….traced my bat on poster board (picked up for 69 cents and I was able to make six more bats with one sheet)…I taped these on the walls along with cobweb and it looked “spooky” as guests made their way down the hall and it was super cheap….and even though it’s work, I just cut them out when watching TV…..or get the kids involved.
Another easy and inexpensive way to share treats. Twenty-five sandwich size zipper seal bags….perfect for treat-giving. For a healthier alternative for parties or friends, fill the bags up with trail mix or nuts.
Easy Halloween Fun
I saw this great decorating idea on www.homesteadsurvival.blogspot.com using glow sticks and empty paper towel rolls. They cut eyes out of the roll and then hung them outside with a glow stick in them. So I’ve been saving my rolls for a couple of weeks and I’ll hang tons of them in all our trees….kids love visiting our house on Halloween night!
I found this container of 15 glow bracelets and they were the perfect size for the empty paper towel and toilet tissue rolls I have. So I cut out eyes on one of the rolls, put the glow bracelet in it and hung it in our tree last night. Then I tried to take a picture but I do not know how to take night pictures with this camera and it was too late to call Trig (our expert design master and photography expert).
HA! See, I was telling the truth about my camera “expertise”….if you read my post about decorating with greenery and my neighbors perhaps thinking I’m “odd”….I’m sure if they saw me climbing a tree at 10 p.m. last night to take hang this and take pics…well, just saying.
So then I brought it inside and tried to get some pictures….. And even if you don’t decorate with the bracelets, they would make great party gifts for a kid’s party…15 for $1.00.
Well, you get the idea…..Will be getting a photography “lesson” after this I’m sure!
