Back in the 70’s there was a commercial for Grape Nuts cereal featuring Euell Gibbons (an outdoorsman, proponent of natural diets, and author) who asked, “Ever eat a pine tree? Many parts are edible.” That’s what I thought of when I’d hear the word “green.” I also thought being “green” was time-consuming and expensive and wondered why, when there were all these perfectly made cleaners on the market, you’d want to mix up concoctions of baking soda, vinegar and other “natural” ingredients.
(I searched and searched, but I couldn’t find the pine tree commercial. But here’s cat-tails! )
Of course that was a long time ago and we now know that all those chemicals in our cleaning products (and other products) can be harmful.
Being “green” can actually not only helps our planet and health but it can also save you money. And it’s not hard to practice being “green.” Here’s a great article on super easy ways busy families can incorporate being green in their homes from Backupcare.org (thanks Kevin!)
We have featured many ways you can use natural products when cleaning (or in your beauty regimen.) Here’s a few of my favorite ways to use baking soda, salt and vinegar.
