Let’s face it, saving money can be difficult, especially when raising a family or on a fixed income. For a lot of people, living paycheck to paycheck, just getting the bills covered and food on the table for the month can be challenging, much less having extra money to put in a savings account. And when you’re already stretched thin, where can you possibly cut to save a few dollars or more?
One simple thing, as simple as measuring your laundry detergent, can actually save you almost a hundred dollars a year. Now I know that doesn’t sound like a ton of money but over time, small savings can snowball, saving you hundreds without doing anything “special” or cutting back on things you need.
WHY MEASURE YOUR SOAP?
I didn’t realize how off I was when eyeballing the amount of detergent I add to the wash. I was literally using twice as much as required. Not only was I wasting my money, but too much soap can be harmful to the washing machine and keep your laundry from getting as clean as it should. In fact too much soap can actually cause a bacteria buildup on items.
Bottom line, read the directions on your detergent label and measure your soap. And of course you should adjust soap amounts when you have different sized loads.
Besides using too much detergent, there are other laundry mistakes you might be making that can cost you money (like when you have to replace something because you shrunk it.) Here are the top 12 laundry mistakes you might be making…
