My husband sent me an article the other day with 4 uses for lemons. I thought, I can think of 10 more, just off the top of my head, so I started doing some research on other things you could use lemons for, besides cooking. I found this great article in Reader’s digest, with 34 uses for lemons…all of them useful (and cheap.) I personally always clean my microwave with lemon and vinegar, and throw the peels down the garbage disposal to freshen it. I also zest my lemons, instead of throwing all that good flavor away, and use it on beans, salsa, salads, veggies and yogurt (you can add it to tons of your favorite recipes for a bit of color and flavor.) The other day we sliced up an entire lemon, threw the slices in a pitcher of water and refrigerated it overnight. It was really refreshing and more lemony after sitting in the fridge.
I remember when I was younger, watching the movie Funny Girl and being intrigued with Barbra Streisand rubbing her elbows with lemon, which I have done for years now (helps soften, dry scaly elbows, knees, and heels.)
A lot of times, depending on the season, you can find lemons on sale for 4 for $1.00.
