Every year I make tons of homemade goodies to give as gifts but packaging them up can be expensive, sometimes more costly than the gift itself. The Dollar Tree, or any other dollar store is a great place to pick up boxes and tins that are pretty yet cheap. Here’s just a few ways you can package up your goodies that will help you stay on budget.
You don’t even need a bow with this red box and glittered lid. This is deep enough for cookies, fudge, or any other treat.
This silver box has an insert that you can put a gift card in but I took that out and will use this for spiced nuts I’m making. It’s also the perfect size for rum or bourbon balls…..which I’ll have a recipe for later.
I was excited when I spotted this tube like red package because it works great for the chocolate covered rod pretzels I’m making. You can also stack cookies in it or fill it up with anything…..all of these packages come in a variety of colors too.
You can nestle your goodies in tissue paper for a pretty presentation….I got 35 sheets for $1.00.
Five colors of gift ribbon for $1.00. A really cheap but attractive way you can bag up cookies or any treat is to punch a couple of holes in plain brown lunch bags (which are inexpensive) and thread ribbon through the holes and tie up a bow….this is how I packaged up a lot of my treats last year.
If you like to make and gift homemade breads this loaf pan is a great deal for $1.00. You can bake your bread in it, wrap it with Saran wrap or tissue paper, tie a ribbon on it and you have an instant package and it becomes part of your gift too.
These cute Rudolph bags come in a package of 6 for a dollar. Perfect for school parties, office goody bags or anyone else you’re making food gifts for.
These stockings might be small but they’re big enough for homemade candies or nuts you make. You would want to wrap your homemade treat in Saran wrap or tissue paper before putting it in the stocking. *These also make cute table decorations when you put your silverware in it and use it as part of your table setting. And you get two for a dollar.
These gold boxes come with one nestled in the other so you get two for a dollar….great price! And these are a perfect size for any baked goodies.
Each of these glass containers cost a dollar and are perfect for seasonings, jams, or even candies or granola you might make. Add a label and ribbon for a pretty finish.
I think this box is elegant and looks more expensive than a dollar. No ribbon or bows needed…it’s perfect as is.
Even if you don’t make homemade goodies, these boxes and containers can be used for lots of different gifts you might need to wrap. Of course you can find all of these at other stores but when you can pick them up at a dollar store, why would you pay more?
