Laundry…we all have to do it. But are you doing it “right?” Correctly washing and drying clothes can extend the life of your clothes and washer and dryer. Here’s 7 great tips from OWN on how you just might be making laundry mistakes and how to correct those mistakes.
Two of my own “tips”…
- Don’t use too much detergent! Using too much detergent won’t get your clothes extra-clean, in fact, it can leave a layer of soap build-up on them which can fade dyes and break-down fibers. And too much detergent is bad for the washing machine, which can clog filters and ports, and lead to mold, odors and bacteria in the machine. And it’s a waste of money.
- If you forget about a load of laundry in the washing machine and get that moldy mildew smell, add a cup or two of white distilled vinegar to the load, run the wash cycle and then wash again with just detergent. It really works.
