These oil lanterns are so cool and would look great for your own home or as a gift. You can use any bottle or jar you have around the house or pick up different shaped ones for cheap from your local thrift store or garage sales. I couldn’t find any fiberglass wicks at any of my local stores but you can order them online.
I did find wicks (they don’t HAVE to be fiberglass) and lamp oil at Ace Hardware. There is a link in the article where you can purchase the fiberglass wicks for less. I’m making these for the backyard deck for our summer entertaining….love these!

There are so many great ways that you can recycle old bottles. I love the idea of making an oil lantern. This is definitely something that I never would have thought of on my own. This is definitely something I will have to try at home.

Elsie…if you do make one, it would be great if you shared a picture with us!
