I saw this recipe on my aunt’s Facebook page and thought it looked really good but wondered how easy it really was and what the cost was. I’m not a very good baker so I’m always looking for super easy recipes that even I can’t mess up. Let me tell you, not only was it really simple, it was super delicious. The entire house smelled fantastic as they baked up and I think I was actually drooling while I waited for the timer to go off. My only complaint is that they are so good, it’s hard to not overindulge. Since there’s only two of us in our home, I felt compelled to keep eating them (so they wouldn’t go bad.) Or at least that’s what I told myself. I used a tube of Pillsbury Grands buttermilk biscuits, which contains 8 (big) biscuits so each serving cost about 50 cents. If you choose not to use nuts, it will of course lower the price even more. I used both the pecans and almonds in mine. You can also go to the Pillsbury website and download coupons. For this recipe I paid $1.89 for the biscuits and used store brand syrup. None of my ingredients were on sale at the time and I didn’t use any coupons. My price for the sticky buns came in at $4.04.
This is not my original recipe and when I saw it floating around on Facebook, the person’s name on the recipe was Tammy Smith Griffith. I’m not for sure if it’s her recipe or something she was sharing but it, again, is super delicious!
STICKY BUN BREAKFAST RING –
Prep Time: About 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
Serves: 8 for approx. $4.00
Ingredients:
- 2 small tubes refrigerator buttermilk biscuits or 1 tube Pillsbury Grands buttermilk biscuits
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup pancake syrup
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds (optional)
Directions:
Spray fluted pan (I used my bundt pan) with non-stick cooking spray. Combine butter and syrup in small bowl and set aside. In another bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts (if using.) Place about half of the syrup mixture in bottom of pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture on top. Lay biscuits on the bottom of the pan, overlapping edges closely together to form a ring. Top with remaining syrup and sugar mixtures.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool 1 minute in pan then invert onto a platter and serve.
DELICIOUS!
