I’m a firm believer that the more we teach our children when they are young, the more likely they are to continue those lessons as they grow. And I also think that when we lead by example, those lessons are more likely to stick.
Here’s a great article from enannysource.com (thanks Nancy!) on easy but effective ways we can teach our children healthy hygiene habits. And if you have older children, it’s not too late to get some healthy habits incorporated. One thing I personally wish my mom had reinforced when I was younger was the importance of washing my face every single night and applying moisturizer. A habit is a recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition. The younger you start, I think the more likely that good habit will stick.
