I personally like making place settings for our holiday dinners so everyone can be seated quickly and there’s no confusion over who sits where. Place settings can be as easy as a simple candy cane with a name tag tied around it or a pretty ornament with your guest’s name written across it or again, a simple name tag tied to it. And if I can create a place setting that our guests can take home, well, that makes it even better.
This year I’m using some fabulous salt cellars I found at Toscano Interiors along with some homemade salt mixture I made. For “couples,” one person gets the salt cellar, ($6.99) and the other person gets the salt mix. For singles, I’ll put one of the wrapped gifts on the table and then send the other with them, just so the table looks even. Simple votive holders with a votive candle, a ribbon wrapped around it, along with a name tag is simple, cheap, and pretty too. (You can pick up votive holders at dollar stores or thrift stores for super cheap.)
Here’s my place settings for this year, along with the salt mix I made which is just Kosher salt, fresh cracked black pepper and rosemary. My salt cellars were $6.99 but on a really good sale at Toscano Interiors.
