Though I haven’t tried any of these cocktails personally…they all look delicious and would make for a nice addition to holiday get-togethers. You don’t have to have an entire bar set up with hundreds of choices when hosting a dinner. One “signature” drink for cocktails is just fine.
Here’s 17 recipes for something a little different from the bar this year…
We’re a family of wine drinkers, especially reds. Two of our personal favorites that are affordable (notice I say affordable, not our absolute favorite wines, but our faves in a certain price range,) are…
Columbia Crest Brand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 (about $8 at Cheers Liquor Mart in Colorado Springs.) Wine Enthusiast gives this an 88 rating. This exhibits classic bold flavor along with delicate aromas and fruit complexity. This is our “go-to” wine when entertaining on a budget.
And our new discovery, which sells for about $13 to $18, depending on sales, is Barossa Valley Schild Estate 2012 Grenache, Mourvedre, and Shiraz blend. This is a marriage of three classic Barossa red varieties, which ensures a wine with both complexity and interest. Ripe red fruits and spice, with bright peppery blue fruits with a core of juicy ripe tannins. We personally really enjoy this.
