Ashley’s our latest thrift store model…She has been a life-long thrift store shopper and knows how to mix and match items to make them look current and stylish. She has a great eye for quality pieces and I think that each of these outfits she’s modeling looks like they could be any outfit you’d seen in any of the latest fashion magazines. I love working with Ashley (she’s helped with some of our other Goodwill makeovers and helped me pull together a lot of the outfits we displayed at our launch party in March). Her husband told me that whenever she says she’s going shopping, he never worries about money she might spend because she’s so thrifty with her thrift store buys. I think she looks beautiful!
If you think you can’t find fashionable clothes at a thrift store, think again….and check out these fabulous looks!
Colored denim has been in all the latest fashion magazines and these pants fit her perfectly. The whole look is fresh and stylish. Everything in this picture was purchased at Goodwill. The chambray shirt (American Eagle brand that retails for approximately $40) was $2.99, the purple tank was $3.99, her jeans (J Crew brand-approximately $125 if bought new) were $5.99, the pink belt (love how she mixes colors) cost $1.99 and the shoes are Banana Republic brand (saw a pair similar to these for $98) that she paid a whopping $6.00 for…..total price of this entire outfit….$20.96. That’s for the ENTIRE outfit she has on and every piece is in perfect condition. If she had paid retail for this, she would have spent close to $300….hmmm, $20 or $300?
Another complete outfit purchased at Goodwill (not all in the same trip). Every one of these pieces are timeless staples that she can wear with other items in her closet to create different looks. I have personally bought two denim jackets at Goodwill, which I wear year round. These shorts are Victoria’s Secret which would retail for about $39.50 but which she only paid $3.99 for, the striped Kasper top (approx $39 new) was $3.99 and this great Guess denim jacket, which she would have easily spent around $100 for new was $8.00 (and will last forever). Total price that Ashley paid for this ensemble was $15.98….versus somewhere around $178.00.
Ashley could wear this outfit anywhere! Again, love her style and how she pulls a look together. This outfit shows how you can mix pieces that are new, with pieces that are used. Ashley just bought these cute flip-flops at Kohl’s for $19.99 and wears them with a lot of her outfits. They go great with shorts, dresses, and pants and while they are comfortable, they are also fashionable. The skirt (Gap-approx $59 new) was $6.00 from Goodwill, her top, another Gap brand, was purchased from Plato’s Closet for $4.99 and she paid $3.99 for the necklace, $1.00 for the bracelet and a whopping 25 cents for the earrings (all purchased at Goodwill). Total price for this summery look….$36.22.
Love this fun outfit! During the day when it’s warm, she wears it without the green Gap cardigan, purchased for $2.00, and then when the evening turns cooler, slips it on. The flowered shorts are Ann Taylor that she picked up for $4.00 (approx $58 new), and the tank is a True Grit brand that I saw runs around $50 new and she paid $2.00 for. All of these were found at Goodwill for a total price of $8.00 (brand new, the outfit would have cost about $139)
Another great look that cost Ashley less than $10.00! Love the funky blue necklace that cost $4.00. Her top is a Lauren Conrad brand that she paid $3.00 for and the capri jeans are Urban Outfitters that were marked $3.00 but were on sale for 25% off so they were $2.25. Brand new, the top and capris would have run her about $90.00 but she got the entire outfit for $9.25. (All of these pieces were also purchased at Goodwill).
And last but not least….my favorite outfit of the day! Love, love, love this outfit. Seriously, does this look like thrift store fashion?
This CDC dress looks amazing in person…my picture does not do it justice. The fit is perfect on her and the detailed beading just makes it look so expensive, and from what I could tell from my research, would have cost well over $100 new. She found this marvelous dress at Goodwill for $6.00! The accessories were all bargain finds too. The belt ($1.99) and bracelet ($1.00) were purchased at Goodwill as was her purse, which cost $9.00 (there wasn’t a label inside but it looks like a Whiting & Davis brand which runs at least $100). The earrings were purchased at Buckle but were on clearance for $5.99. And her shoes….(purchased at the Salvation Army) are a pair of Kate Spades and if you know the Kate Spade brand, they are not cheap. I found a similar pair online (new) for (take a deep breath) $328. What did she pay for them? Ok, take another deep breath…$1.99! So for this elegant, yet sexy look, Ashley paid a grand total of $25.97!
Each of these outfits are totally different in look, are all extremely stylish and flattering, and she looks amazing! And almost every item was purchased at Goodwill or another thrift store with a couple of new pieces. Seriously, when you can find items like this for next to nothing at a thrift store, why would you pay a higher price. And this is just an example of no matter what your taste is, you can find something you’d like when buying used!
Ashley….Wow!
