I bet our forefathers would be a bit surprised that what started as a day to celebrate our first president George Washington and his birthday, has now turned into a 3-day weekend of great shopping deals. President’s Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February and was originally called “Washington’s Birthday.” (His actual birthday is February 22, 1732.)
The federal government still officially calls this day “Washington’s Birthday,” as do some states but most states have adopted the term “President’s Day” in honor of all our presidents. Ok, history lesson over and now to the shopping…

ENJOY A FREE DAY AT A NATIONAL PARK
The National Park Service waives fees on certain days of the year and President’s Day is one of those days. On February 20th you can get free admission to National Park Service sites that normally charge an entrance fee. Here’s a list of those sites, state-by-state.

I personally like to pick up winter clothing this time of year with prices slashed up to 75% at a lot of my favorite stores, as they make room for all the new warm-weather items.
