A couple of years ago I was having some minor health issues and after visiting the doctor, found out I was vitamin deficient in magnesium and vitamin D. So I did my research on brands, loaded up on the vitamins, and took them…for awhile. Then I felt better and stopped taking them. I’m sure I’m not the only one who does that! Anyway, I’ve been feeling run down again and know that I haven’t been eating as healthy as I should and getting the rest my body needs so I decided to pull my vitamins out from under the cabinet, load them into my a.m./p.m. box and start taking them again, on a regular basis.
As I was loading by pill-box though, I wondered if it really mattered when I took the vitamins during the day. Some of the directions were specific as to taking one in the morning or night but most just said take once or twice a day. And some vitamins are fat-soluble while others are water-soluble, which makes a difference in how they are stored in your body, with fat-soluble vitamins needing to be taken with some sort of dietary fat, like nuts.
After doing a lot of research on various medical and fitness sites, I found this bengreenfieldfitness.com site which is very easy to read, full of important research and best of all, has some great charts you can print and hang up to remind you when and how to take vitamins to achieve the optimum health benefits.
