I have no qualms admitting I hate cleaning the house. Seriously, five minutes after dusting the coffee table, the cats walk across it and leave those dusty cat-litter prints. Sometimes it doesn’t even take them the full five minutes before they’ve done the paw print marks and I’m like, “Seriously? I just cleaned that!” (I don’t think my son, when he was younger, made as many messes as our cats do.) Anyway, I’d rather spend my time doing something else but eventually I’m forced to dust or run the vacuum.
I’m always looking for ways to save time with household chores, spend less money and/or find alternative ways to keep things clean and tidy without having to buy specialty items to do so; which is why I found these 25 tricks so great. I tried most of them and found they actually worked and were simple enough for anyone to do. Some of the tricks mentioned are ones I’ve used for years, like cleaning my sponges in the microwave and using socks to dust the blinds with. Most of these tips use everyday items but there are a couple of ideas that do require buying a specific item.
Another personal favorite cleaning idea mentioned in the article is using dryer sheets to clean the baseboards with. They not only easily clean the dust off, but they help repel future dust with their anti-static properties. I actually usually use used dryer sheets which for me, work just as well as a new sheet but for picture purposes, I used a new sheet.
