The movie Fifty Shades of Grey came out this week and from what I hear from others, it’s quite “steamy,” and something some of you might want to watch this Valentine’s Day with your honey. Or you could even pick up the book and take turns reading it aloud to each other…
Of course the subject matter of this best-selling novel isn’t something everyone will enjoy or even be interested in because it is a controversial erotic romance. But we have such a vast mix of readers, I thought I’d share this fun article by freelance writer, Carrie Lyons, that might spark some sexy ideas for you and your Valentine. There are recipes you can recreate that were mentioned in the novel and for those of you who are wanting to recreate some of those Anastasia and Christian Grey “moments,” there’s a link to Adam & Eve, where you’ll be able to find anything and everything erotic you might want for a “Fifty Shades of Grey” Valentine celebration.
With the premiere of Fifty Shades of Grey inching closer by the minute, many are trying to figure out how to squeeze the show into their plans for the night. My suggestion: Go all-in and work the night around the film.
With a little effort, your guy could have just as much fun throughout the night as you. If nothing else, he’ll probably be happy that you’re taking the reigns on making plans. After all, a stress-free holiday for anyone is a gift in itself.
Dinner
My Recipes has an entire list of foods mentioned throughout the novel that you can use to create your perfect Fifty Shades menu for the evening.
For dinner, serve oysters as an appetizer, black cod as the entree, and asparagus and crushed potatoes for sides. It’s the same meal that Christian and Ana shared on their first real date. You can also substitute scallops for the oysters if you prefer one over the other, as the couple had scallops when they dined at Christian’s parents’ house. Although, there is something to be said for oysters being an aphrodisiac…
Movie
You really don’t have to do anything during the movie, but be sure your phone is off. If you’re being honest with yourself about it, watching the movie is mostly for your benefit. However, you could spin it as an opportunity to benefit both of you later on.
Some of the more sexual scenes could get both of you in the mood for post-viewing activities and inspire you to try some new things to boot. In fact, a lot of the items the couple uses throughout the book and film have been made into toys you can use. Adam and Eve reveals that the line was designed specifically to “help bring Christian and Anastasia’s sensual tales to life,” and with everything from romantic candles and masquerade masks to spanking rulers and “Holy Cow!” personal massagers, I don’t doubt their ability to do so.
Dessert
To end your evening, recreate Ana’s enticing dream from the book by getting a bowl of juicy strawberries for the two of you. Or you can really indulge your sweet tooth and use them to top a bowl of vanilla ice cream to share—Christian’s personal favorite.
You can even have a nightcap with some Fifty Shades wine in red stain or white silk. Grab a glass of wine, your choice of dessert (possibly topped with a little chocolate sauce), and see where the night takes you.
Who knows; you may just make a Fifty Shades fan out of your guy, too.
