I’ve been a huge fan of Sally Hansen nail polishes for years because they are affordable and in my opinion, really last. As I’ve said before, I personally don’t like going to the salon to get my nails done because I’m an impatient person and don’t like the fact I have to get dressed, drive someplace (and back,) and then sit while my nails are done. I know, I’m strange.
Last year I reviewed the Sally Hansen Gel Manicure Starter Kit that I paid $64.99 for and included the gel polishes and LED lamp. It worked really well for me but it was costly for the starter kit and you had to buy a special polish remover, which was more expensive than regular polish remover.
Now Sally Hansen has a new line of Miracle Gel polishes that are a lot more affordable, lasts up to 14 days and don’t require special lamps, special polish remover, or a lot of time.
WHAT IT IS…
This first-ever, part-lacquer, part-gel manicure system delivers up to 14 days of color and shine. Once your nails are clean, you apply 2 coats of the Miracle Gel Color and then 1 coat of the Miracle Gel Top Coat. I bought mine at Target for $7.99 each. You don’t need to apply a base coat and there are 45 shades to choose from. It’s removed with regular nail polish remover with no soaking, wrapping, scraping or filing.
DOES IT WORK?
I read tons of reviews before I made my purchase because if there were a lot of bad reviews, I didn’t want to waste my time or money. The reviews I read were overwhelmingly favorable, with a majority of women saying it was “the best!” Did it work for me? Yes, yes, and yes! I’m pretty hard on my hands and my nails take a beating so over the last several years I’ve found I polish my nails less and less because I simply don’t have time to fix the chips every couple of days. The week I tried out this new polish, I planted bulbs in the garden, tried out 3 new recipes (which makes for a lot of hand washing,) went on a trip, cleaned with some new products I was trying out and after 10 days my nails still looked great. Fourteen days later the tips still looked g00d with no chips and really, with the exception of where my nail bed was starting to show where my nails were growing, they looked as good as they did on day one.
THE PRICE PER MANICURE…
I figured out the pricing for a manicure this way…I paid $7.99 for the bottle of color and $7.99 for the top coat. I’ve never personally kept count of how many manicures a bottle of polish has in it but the research I read from others varied from 25 to 40 manicures per bottle, based on 2 coats per manicure. I divided the cost of both bottles, which was $16 and divided that by the least amount of manicures suggested per bottle (25). The cost per manicure came out to 64 cents so it’s actually less than a dollar.
An average of $1 per manicure, which literally takes less than 30 minutes and keeps its color and shine for up to 14 days is a winner in my book.
*You can find Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Color and Top Coat at Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Ulta, and other stores. Depending on where you buy it, prices can vary from $7.97 to $9.99.
