I have had the same phone, (just a basic one with no bells and whistles) for 5 years. My phone charger just recently died so I had the choice of spending money on a new one or upgrading to a new phone. Now I have to admit I’ve had an iPhone available for over a year because my husband bought a newer iPhone and gave me his older one. But I have dragged my heels because I didn’t want to have to learn how to use it. Well now I have one and am very proud to say, I know how to answer it and how to text. Now I’m learning about apps and which ones work best for me (a lot of shopping and sale ones.) What I didn’t realize is just how many hundreds, even thousands, of apps there are out there. It seems like no matter what type of information you could ever possibly need, there’s an app for that. (My family has been teasing me as I discover what they’ve all been doing and using for years!)
The other day Tina from Babysitters.net sent me this article containing 9 iPhone apps that are great for teens, that include not only pertinent information on keeping track of them in case of an emergency but medical information too. Applications that in an emergency, could actually help save a life. Most of these are free and not only are they excellent for teens, but also for adults and pre-teens. I just downloaded the one from the American Heart Association that can actually help me know what to do in a medical emergency like how to perform CPR or treat an accident victim until help comes. Hopefully I’ll never have to use it but it’s there just in case. Another app I absolutely love is the Life360 Family Locator, which can help keep track of where everyone is, especially in emergencies (which with the fires and floods and evacuations we’ve gone through this summer, is especially mind-easing.)
Thanks Tina for sharing this!
