Want an international culinary experience without having to travel the world? How about shopping at a Marketplace Bazaar featuring products from around the world or enjoying performances of cultural dancers, musicians and singers? Or perhaps you want to learn the art of Chinese character painting, the art of Henna or learning how to cook some of your favorite international cuisines? And how cool would it be if you could do all of that under one roof? Well, you can, this Sunday, June 1st at the World Food Festival being held at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
Food, wine, microbrews, spirits, shopping and entertainment…sounds like my kind of day! Kick off the summer with this international fun and if you buy your tickets on Groupon, Gazette Deal of the Day or Amazon Local, you can save up to half off, which sounds even better to me.
I had the pleasure of meeting General Manager/Chef Larry Beavers from Salud Tequila Bar (one of the many restaurants that will be at the festival) the other day and got to taste some of the delicious treats he’ll have available at the event.
I also had a chance to sit down with Chef Beavers and chat with him about his restaurant, which is about 4 months old and located downtown Colorado Springs. It was my first visit to Salud Tequila Bar, which has a welcoming interior with stone accents, a cool looking bar, and a giant bottle of Patron over the fireplace.
Salud Tequila Bar offers gourmet cooking with a unique twist and over 15 different styles of margaritas, including his famous strawberry jalapeno margarita. Surprise, surprise…I actually tasted the virgin version. (I know, that’s hard to believe!)
Prices range from $11 to $30 and Chef Beavers can whip up gluten-free items too. The restaurant was closed the day we visited but Chef made his unstuffed empanadas, which were decadent and delicious. (The tequila-infused agave nectar Chef uses is so good!)
Thanks Chef Beavers for the visit and tasting!

Ok, back to the World Food Festival…I’ll be checking out all the fun and food from 1 -4 pm and can’t wait! Remember if you buy your tickets on one of the sites I mentioned earlier, you can save half off, which makes a big difference for those of us on a budget.
And just FYI…The World Food Festival is honored to support multiple regional charities of different nationalities in an effort to help them fund future performances and cultural outreach held in the area.
The festival is open to those 21 and older and would make a perfect date day with your honey or a fun girl’s day out (guys, you can go with your friends too.)
