It’s been almost a year since my friend Ashley opened her clothing store, Ashley’s Attic (downtown Colorado Springs). I have enjoyed watching her business grow, not to mention how much I love shopping there. I admire women who start their own businesses and since she’s young enough to be my own daughter, I have a bit of “motherly” pride in what she’s accomplished.
This week Ashley took her fashion flair to The Broadmoor Area Christian Women’s Connection luncheon, held at The Broadmoor, in the form of a fashion show. She also brought a sample of all her fabulous goodies from the store and I can say, she went home with a much lighter load! The women loved all the jewelry, shoes, bags, and of course, clothes.
The luncheon was held at The Broadmoor in the Crystal Room, which is such a lovely location.
If you haven’t visited The Broadmoor, I highly recommend it. It’s the longest-running consecutive winner of both the AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star awards and it’s in our own backyard. It’s not cheap but even if you’re on a budget, you could stop in for a drink and enjoy the beautiful setting. It’s especially fabulous as the sun sets. My husband and I like to stop in the West Lobby Bar where we split appetizers and have drinks. It gives you an especially beautiful view of the lake.
Ashley recently had a baby…a handsome little boy named Mason who is now 14 weeks old. I think she looks fabulous! And of course everything she’s wearing is from her store.
Ashley with one of her beautiful models, Corinne.
Ashley was a natural at speaking. She’s so passionate about fashion and loves sharing tips. Of course I especially like promoting her store since you can find upscale labels in perfect condition with bargain prices. Looking good, paying less, and being green (she sells gently worn clothes,) is what I’m talking about.
Corinne’s wearing Cache pants (which typically sell for $88 to $128), a J Crew Tee, Jessica Simpson wedges, which along with the yellow belt and earrings cost only $75…for the entire outfit. And I apologize Corinne that my pictures do not do you justice! I had a personal challenge with taking pictures with the sun, windows and mirrors. (But you still look gorgeous!)
I loved this Vera Wang dress on Susie. The dress, heels and chandelier earrings cost a total of $34.
This dress was so flattering on Susie and had it been in my size, I would have bought it right off her back. Perfect for attending a summer wedding, Sunday church, an evening out or heck, when you look this good, wear it to the grocery store!
Another fabulous outfit I personally wanted! Corinne rocked this sophisticated look consisting of this Antonio Melani cream skirt, leopard peplum top and white coral necklace…total cost of these 3 pieces $55. I saw a similar Antonio Melani skirt at Dillard’s for $99.
Why does Susie look so relaxed and happy? Because she’s styling in these Cole Haan Air pumps that are fashionable but oh so comfortable. Susie said they were like walking on air. Brand new, they can cost anywhere from $148 to over $200. These looked like they had been worn maybe once! With the zebra skirt, black ruffle tee, the red tree nut bracelet and of course the fabulous shoes…this entire outfit cost $80.
*The smiling woman in the background next to the “Crystal” door was the our speaker that day. I just want to add that she (Sandi Tinlin) shared her touching story “Storms To Weather ~ Rainbows That Follow,” which was truly inspiring.
It was a “successful” fashion show which kept Ashley busy ringing up sales! Everyone loved the selections and prices!
This was my second luncheon presented by The Broadmoor Area Christian Women’s Connection and it was just an enjoyable couple of hours.
“The Colorado Women’s Connection meets monthly or bi/monthly all over the state at various locations and follows a flexible agenda. These events may include a musician and/or a 12-15 minute feature presentation relation to fashion, the home, cooking, travel-something that will be of interest to women. This is followed by an inspirational speaker. The entire meeting is designed to be an encouragement to those who attend.”
You can go to their website and click on the area you live in to find out more information at www.coloradowomensconnection.com
The Broadmoor Area group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at The Broadmoor. I’d also like to give a “shout-out” to Lois Byler-Morauski who provided the beautiful piano music.
It was just a lovely day of food, fashion and fellowship.
