April showers don’t have to put a damper on your fashion flair. And you don’t have to spend a ton to look fabulous and stay dry. Here’s some great deals on waterproof gear and a couple of drool-worthy non-budget items. Even if I wasn’t on a budget, I don’t know that I would spend $400 on a pair of rain boots? I could certainly try though! I was actually quite surprised at the amount of really cool looks K-Mart had with their rainy weather items and their prices. We have a couple of K-Marts fairly close to where we live but to be honest, they aren’t in the best area and I tend to not shop there because of that. But as I was looking at their selections online, I remembered I could always order my favorite items, and there were quite a few.
BOOTS –
Whatever your style, here’s a few selections from your basic boot to some fun prints and colors…
There were so many great selections at K-Mart but I really like these Athletech Women’s Rain Boot Thunder in red, which also comes in a gorgeous royal blue. Adjustable side buckles and upper and outsole rubber. These are on sale through April 11th for $24.99.
100% waterproof, fun colors like green geometric and pink floral, along with a basic black, these Puddleton Packable boots roll up into their own little travel bag once you get where you’re going. Available at Plow & Hearth for $49.95.
I’m a sucker for animal-print anything so of course I’m loving these Target leopard print Adalyn Rainboots. They have a slight 1-inch heel and are made of durable rubber. They have a lot of other prints and colors in this same style, all for $29.99 each.
For all my cowboy boot wearing friends, look at these fun Paisley Print Cowboy Rainboots! Who knew? Besides the paisley print, Halley Jeans Co. has other fun prints too. Also available at Target for $39.99.
If you’re looking for just a basic rain boot, these Chain Link-Sole Chore Rain Boots will protect your feet for only $20 at Wal-Mart. They feature slip resistent chain-link soles for better traction, they’re knit lined and have a non-crack upper for duration.
Want to keep your feet dry but don’t want to wear boots? Check out these Cougar Rain Flats, available at Macy’s for $50. Available in solids and prints.
And if you have an extra $400 to spend on a pair of rain boots, these Burberry Tall Rain Boots are available at Bloomingdale’s for $425…
RAINCOATS –
I didn’t realize how expensive rain coats were! It was actually challenging to find cute ones for $50 or less but I did find a few. I think the amount of money you spend would depend on where you live and what your lifestyle is. If you don’t get a lot of rain in your area, you probably wouldn’t use a raincoat much. If you go from the garage to a work garage that’s covered, you may not feel the need to invest in one either. But if you’re outside a lot, live in a city where you get a lot of rain and you wear a raincoat often, there’s a much larger selection of stylish rain coats and jackets under $100. Even though I like a deal, sometimes you actually save by spending a bit more upfront for something that’s going to last longer. Again, I think it depends on your lifestyle and needs. Here’s a few affordable ones I found…
Old Navy offers this Women’s Hooded Jersey-Lined Raincoat for $44.94. It’s machine washable, has plenty of pockets and a built-in hood with drawstring cord.
Leopard print? Sold! This Forever 21, Wild Style Rain Coat is only $29.80 which makes it very affordable and it’s fun. Unlined and lightweight, it has a drawstring hood with long button cuffed sleeves.
Another fun find at Forever 21. Show off your fab outfit for the day and stay dry with this Transparent Rain Coat for $27.80. I saw a lot of these clear coats in the higher end stores and they wanted a lot more that $30 for them. This comes with a contrast faux leather trim.
Cute, waterproof, and only $39.99 makes this Charlotte Russe Drawstring Hooded Anorak a great deal. It has a drawstring waistline and removable hood.
This Contrast Trim Raincoat With Hood is available at Burlington Coat Factory in black or the more bold, “wild Pacific” color. $29.99 with a removable hood, color contrast trim and lightweight feel, it’s pretty enough to wear even when it’s not raining.
Another good deal from Wal-Mart if you want a simple but functional basic raincoat. This Weather Tamer Women’s Belted Trench (with hood,) is only $20 and comes in black, white and beige. It’s machine washable too.
It would have to rain every single day and I’d have to be outside in the rain every single day to even think about this $750 Burberry Brit Balmoral Raincoat with Hood. Oh, and I’d have to be rich. I love the description line that reads, “finished with a generous hood to halt a bad hair day before it starts.” But it is machine washable so you’ll save at the dry cleaners.
UMBRELLAS –
If you get drizzle where you live, a lightweight, inexpensive umbrella will probably work just fine for you. If you get the wind gusts along with torrential rains, you might want to invest in a heavier-duty one that can stand up to the conditions. But even those can be found for a bargain.
Forever 21 has some really cute and stylish umbrellas for under $10. I like this Houndstooth Travel umbrella, which would obviously match all my black and white clothes! I did read on a review that this broke easily but I don’t know under what conditions and I haven’t used this personally.
Totes umbrellas are my personal “go-to” when I’m buying a new one and I can always find them for a good price at Target. This compact Totes umbrella is $12.99 and comes in lots of colors and designs.
Target also has this WalkSafe Auto Open Reflective Jumbo Umbrella for $19.99. It features 3M Scothlite reflective material, which keeps you safe and easy to be seen even in wet, gray conditions. Easy to open and big enough to share.
And if you’re looking for a bit more “flair” and have $600 to spare (for an umbrella?) check out this Large Blue Skull Alexander McQueen umbrella…and it’s not really $600, it’s only $595!
