Madison, who prefers to be called Maddie, was our latest Discover Goodwill “Back to School” contest winner. Maddie’s 12, soon to be 13 and is in 7th grade at Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy/Vanguard School. Teens can be difficult to buy for (girls and boys) and the prices at the mall are expensive. Our mission was to find an outfit (up to $25) that was current, in excellent condition and something Maddie really liked. And as always, we found it and more.
Maddie layered this outfit together herself. The blue sports bra, which is hers, looks like another layer under the Arizona pink tank ($2.99) and the Self Esteem mid-sleeve pink and white top ($4.99). These jeans still had the tags on them $50 (SO jeans from Kohl’s) and were priced at $12.99. Total price….$20.97
Maddie’s favorite color is green, with blue being a second close so she loved this mix (top $3.99) and Roxy jeans ($5.99)
In a coincidence, Maddie and I had actually met last year when she was a winner in our “Back to School” contest. I don’t usually ask for last names so I didn’t put two and two together until I actually saw her. It was fun seeing how she had grown in a year and she was as cute and friendly as I remembered her. She’s very easy-going and loves making people not only laugh, but feel special.
I thought Maddie’s mixed layered looks were so cute, using her blue sports bra, that I went out the next day and bought several similar ones for myself! This Joe Boxer LOVE top was $3.99 and the Jojo skinny jeans were $7.99.
Maddie not only loves making people laugh but she also LOVES animals and wants to someday run an orphaned animal sanctuary in Howard, Colorado, which is where her grandparents live. She also likes horses, skating, swimming, camping and the outdoors…along with hanging out with all her friends. She’s an excellent writer, and especially likes to write humorous stories.
Maddie looked great in so many different colors! Love this combination…Carol Rose top $3.99 and Mudd skinny jeans $5.99.
We all loved this orange and grey tank ($2.99) with the Robin K sleeveless wrap cardigan (sold at Nordstrom) for $7.99 and Underground Soul jeans $5.99….total cost $16.97.
And we especially loved the back of this!
Maddie said her favorite subject is science and I’m so excited to say that she tried out for the volleyball team for the first time ever this year and made the team! Congratulations Maddie and have fun wearing all your great finds! (We paid for some and mom got the rest of our stylish but bargain-priced outfits.)
As always, thanks to Discover Goodwill for letting us invade the dressing rooms with our photo shoot. We shopped at the Circle location and once again, the staff was very helpful.
And by the way, Maddie’s nickname is Batman!
