It’s been a long time since I had to think about leaving a young child with a sitter or nanny, but I have a lot of friends who have young children or babies talking about how emotional it is for them…feeling guilty yet needing/wanting some time away. And that’s for just a couple of hours! One of my really good friends and her husband recently received an overnight stay at a local hotel as a gift but she was fretting about leaving the baby (who doesn’t nurse anymore) but also recognized she and her hubby really needed some “alone” time. At first I was thinking, “It’s just one or two nights and is baby even going to know you’re gone?” But then I realized, I probably felt the same way when my own son was young (many, many moons ago!)
So it was great when Hannah from Full-Time Nanny.com sent me this article on tips to help everyone cope when leaving your child/children for the first time as you get away for a weekend. These are great tips whether leaving them overnight or for a couple of nights.
You know, I write 90% (or more) of our articles so it’s really great when someone shares a different perspective or an idea about something I may have forgotten about because of my age or circumstance. Thanks Hannah! And for all you moms out there, especially those with young children, this is a great site with lots of helpful ideas and tips…..
