We try to spend as much time as possible outdoors during the warmer months (which unfortunately aren’t that long in Colorado!) Even if we don’t have company over, my husband and I are out on the deck most evenings; grilling, sipping wine, visiting with the wildlife or just talking. It doesn’t take a ton of money to add a few items to make the great outdoors a bit more enjoyable with these stylish additions for your yard, deck or patio.
Functional and decorative…this AcuRite Outdoor clock not only tells you the time, but the temperature and humidity too. Available at Wal-Mart for $17.88.
Another great deal at Wal-Mart…this red Mainstays Outdoor Toss Pillow will definitely add a pop of color to any deck or patio chair. It’s easy to clean, has a UV-treated face and soft polyester fill. And at $7.88, you can afford a couple.
I like the fact that these Room Essentials Pathway Lights are sold individually. Every year we discover lights that have been broken by the deer, run over by a car (ours), or blown away by the wind. With these, we don’t have to buy an entire set and they’re easy to replace. This particular style (stainless steel square) are $5 each, but they also have some nice ones at $3 each. They are also rust and weather-resistant.
What’s a home without a gnome? (Sorry, just had to write that!) Add a touch of whimsy to your yard or garden with this 3 Gnome Statue from Target for $19.99.
Welcome family and friends with this sturdy Garden Oasis Heart Plant Stand (with welcome sign) from Kmart ($13.99.) It’s easy to move around when your plants need more or less sun or shade.
This Smart Solar bird bath will not only make the birds happy, it will add light to your yard. The stake has decorative birds and leaves on it and then is topped with a crackled glass orb. It automatically turns on at dusk and off at dawn. Comes with a replaceable rechargeable battery and a color changing LED….at Kmart for $20.99.
Protect bare feet from getting burned from a hot patio or deck and add color at the same time. This 3’x6′ plaid tribal floor mat will do both. Available at World Market for $19.99. And when it gets dirty, simply shake it or rinse with a garden hose.
Soothing sounds and reflective light will help you chill out in the yard. Love this Capiz Wind Chime from World Market for $14.99. It’s made of iridescent, naturally harvested capiz shells, hanging from a bamboo pole.
This year with all the fires, I’ve been super cautious about burning candles outside (and we NEVER leave them unattended!) I like these decorative lanterns you can pick up at Lowe’s in multiple colors and sizes because they help keep the flame contained.
Another fun item from Lowe’s is this iron butterfly twister. It features a 3-D butterfly design that becomes a fun optical illusion when the wind blows ($9.99.)
Even when we’re not in drought conditions, outdoor candles worry me a bit. That’s just one of the reasons I love these outdoor LED candles that come with timers! These are available at Pier 1 Imports ($11.16 to $15.96, depending on size.) These are not only flameless and weather-resistant, but you can adjust the glow and set them to turn off at the end of the night (which saves the battery, in case you’re like me and forget to turn them off sometimes…especially after a night of sipping wine!)
I like this mason jar hummingbird feeder because it’s heavier-duty than my other ones that get knocked over and mangled by the bears. This has a rustic feel to it, 5 feeding ports, and what could be better outdoor “decor” than a bunch of hummingbirds gathered around? This is available at Home Depot for $19.53.
