Every month we try to feature inexpensive but fabulous finds you could use as hostess gifts. (I totally forgot to do this in February!) A hostess gift isn’t a “requirement” when you dine at someone’s house but it’s a nice way to say thank-you. As I’ve said, there’s nothing wrong with taking a bottle of wine or flowers to your hostess but for the same price (or less), you can get a bit more creative and take something she’ll remember long after the wine’s been drunk or the flowers have lost their bloom. And our hostess gift ideas always make nice gifts for any occasion…including buying something for yourself. I try to find gifts from national stores, or local stores where you can order online, so that you’ll be able to easily find these gift ideas. But if a particular store isn’t in your area, you can still use the suggestions as ideas as you shop in your own local stores.
It’s March…think florals and lots of bright colors when looking for gifts this month…..
Mildra Bottles
I saw these Mildra glass bottles at Ikea and fell in love with the colors and the fact that they can be used as vases or as a drink dispenser (there’s a lid included). They are handblown and look expensive but only cost $7.99 each.
Porcelain Roses
Spring brings flowers to mind and these white Smith & Hawken floral porcelain roses are only $5.99 for a set of three. If you haven’t been to your host’s house before, these are a nice option since they would go with any color decor.
Rose Colander
A colander as a hostess gift? Why not when it’s as cute as this? This rose shaped colander from JC Penney (Zak Designs $8) comes in kiwi, orange, red, and white. For an added touch, fill it up with seasonal fruit.
Floral Measuring Spoons
Florals and color….These floral measuring spoons are super cute, something your hostess can use forever and only costs $3.99 at World Market. I am headed to the store today to pick these up for myself!

Five dollars for these hibiscus floating candles at Pier 1 Imports….*I have given floating candles as hostess gifts along with pretty glass bowls or vases they can float in (I get my glass bowls and vases at Goodwill and the Dollar Tree for added savings.)
Floral Scarf
I love this Jennifer Lopez floral scarf. Perfect for spring, only $5.00, and it benefits cancer research….And most women I know love scarves! (Kohl’s)
Shea Butter
Moisturizing shea butter, a pretty package and scents of spring’s first blooms…all in one for $5.00. This is one of the newest scented hand lotions available at Bath & Body Works.
Tazo Passion Leaf Tea
It’s hard to not be able to find a Starbucks so this would be an easy and delicious gift to pick up for any tea lover. Tazo Passion Leaf Tea, $6.95 for 15 pieces, with an herbal infusion of hibiscus, orange peel, rose hips and passion fruit flavors…a taste of spring in every sip.
Every time I write a hostess gift post I end up spending money on myself! Luckily they are always inexpensive items!
