When I saw this headline I thought the article was going to be about not immunizing children so I was surprised to read this was about poor oral health!
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that tooth decay affects over one-fourth of 2 to 5 year-old children and half of kids ages 12-15. Studies show that there is a link between poor oral health and overall health.
I know that there are families who may not be able to afford dental insurance and believe me, I know dentist visits can be costly. My son had to have his four wisdom teeth removed and even with insurance, it was very expensive.
But this article deals more with children simply not brushing their teeth….it seems (to me), this could be easily fixed by parents being more vigilant when children are younger, helping develop those healthy habits for a lifetime.
