The first time I met Jen on her Moms Everyday segment, we immediately hit it off and talked about doing a Goodwill shopping spree. And since it doesn’t take an arm-twisting to get me to shop there, we did it sooner rather than later! My good friend Ashley met up with us, which I’m always thankful for because we can find twice the amount of clothes in the same time frame as when I do it by myself.
Jen wanted to find some outfits she could wear on air so we needed to find items that didn’t show too much cleavage and would look good while she was sitting down…
Jen and Ashley looking over a top before adding it to the cart. Always check for stains or small rips and make sure the buttons are all on (or can easily be replaced).
Pants can be a challenge for us short women…of course taller women can have their share of challenges too! These pants fit Jen perfectly and the colors all look fabulous on her. We all thought the top and sweater were a bit “flowy” together but we liked all three pieces.
We find clothes all the time with the original price tags on them, that have never been worn. This Calvin Klein cardigan was priced at only $5.99 and it looked great on Jen…this was a “definite”.
This dress fit and the colors were great with Jen’s coloring. We wanted to add a little sweater or jacket so Ashley found two denim jackets that we all liked. And while this jacket looked good, we found another one that was a little less bulky. When you layer, you want to add items without adding bulk.
This denim jacket is the one we all liked better. It’s more structured and flattering to Jen’s body and she’ll be able to wear this with lots of other items she already owns.
We had a cart full of clothes and were running out of time before Jen needed to be someplace else so instead of making her try on every single outfit again (after we narrowed the outfits down), I snapped these…..
Love the blue and brown together! Jen can wear each of these pieces together or with other items in her closet. The AB Studio pants were $3.99, her brand new Calvin Klein cardigan was $5.99 and the First Issue brown top was marked $2.99 but 30% off that day so it was only $2.09….grand total $12.07.
Both the Friend denim jacket and Merona dress cost $5.99….Jen’s going to wear a little cami or tank under the dress when she’s on air to prevent too much cleavage being shown. In the cooler months this will look great with tights. Love, love, love clothes that can be worn year-round with just a few changes! And she can wear a lot of other jackets, sweaters or cardigans with it and totally change-up the look. The jacket will look great with pants and skirts and other dresses she already owns….total cost was $11.98.
These taupe pin-striped pants (Style & Co.) are slimming and the perfect length. We all loved the colors of this BLEU top (both cost $4.99 each) and this outfit would look cute with the denim jacket she purchased. Grand total for two very versatile items…$9.98.
We all have certain brands that seem to fit us better than others so Jen was really excited when we found this black skirt and jacket from Talbots, since that’s a brand she favors. The skirt was $3.99 and the jacket was $5.99….a steal for this brand and condition…which was like brand new! And this red geometric print Ann Taylor top fit and looked great on her ($3.99). Total cost for this great looking outfit (and excellent brands) was $13.97….and she can wear the skirt and jacket together (of course!) or wear each piece with other items to create a totally different look.
Goodwill has lots of great shoes. Jen wears a size 7 (which I do too) and sometimes it’s hard to find our size…there were a ton of great shoes that day in size 9…it just varies from day-to-day.
Always check the soles for wear and tear and make sure the heels aren’t run-down. These look like they’ve only been worn a couple of times. *You can put inserts in the shoes or disinfect them with Lysol.
We always have to check out the jewelry! Ashley did find a great necklace for Jen, which I didn’t get a great shot of, for $1.99.
Why is Jen smiling? Because she found 4 fabulous outfits (that can all be worn with other pieces) and a necklace for a total of (before tax) only $49.99….that’s eleven items in total, which averages out to about $4.54 for each item…which included that never worn Calvin Klein cardigan, the Talbots suit and an Ann Taylor top.
So from the pictures it looks like Jen and Ashley had fun….but I WAS there too! Ha! Just behind the camera….
Jen headed off to her next appointment with a bag full of fabulous finds and Ashley and I ….well, we headed back in to the store for a few purchases of our own!
