I am SO EXCITED about our newest contest!
A couple of months ago Keri Funkhouser, Communications Specialist at Discover Goodwill, contacted me and said they appreciated all the positive posts we’ve done about shopping at Goodwill. She then offered us a $25 gift card every month for the next year to use on our makeover contests…Well, this got us to thinking and long story short, we’ve teamed up with a few more generous people to make our first contest, using Discover Goodwill’s gift card, even more special!
Thanking those that sacrifice so much for us!
So here’s the scoop….we’re opening this particular contest (starting today, Wednesday, September 5th and running through Wednesday, September 12th) to military women….whether you’re active, retired or married to someone in the military. We know that it’s tough being separated from a loved one or serving our country out of dedication and not with the thought of making tons of money! We appreciate all you do and for the sacrifices you make…all to help keep us safe!
All you have to do to enter the contest is tell us why you (or someone you know) needs/deserves a makeover in a comment below. Our winner will be picked randomly because I know everyone’s going to have a great reason they need this and I can’t “judge” one reason to be better than another! *This is for the Colorado Springs area only.
The Goods
The winner will receive the following-
- A FREE shopping spree with me at Discover Goodwill to find you a fabulous outfit (worth up to $25).
- A FREE hair cut or style from Ron Rather at Genesis Hair Salon!
- A FREE consultation and makeup makeover from Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, Teresa Schmitt!
- A FREE lunch at The Cliff House in Manitou Springs ($25 gift card).
- AND a piece of beautiful piece of Lia Sophia jewelry, compliments of Barb Cobleigh!
- AND the winner will be featured on KKTV’s Moms Everyday on Thursday, September 27th!!! (The winner would meet me at the KKTV studio at 8:30 am).
*I just have to add this about Barb. She’s the office manager at KKTV and when she heard me talking to Jen (host of Moms Everyday) about the contest, she told me the outfit she had on was from Goodwill (and she looked beautiful). She so believes in what we’re doing and loved the fact that our first contest was for militay women that she offered some Lia Sophia jewelry to the pot….what a nice thing to do!
We of course will want to take pictures and/or video of the process and post it on our website.
Free clothes, hairstyle, makeup makeover, jewelry, fine dining and a chance to feel like a “TV celebrity”!!!
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO IS HELPING US DO THIS!

So glad this will be a random drawing as every military member/family member sacrifices.
Having a difficult time locating the link for actual entry into the contest (?) Clicked on the prizes/giveaways link and didn’t see it there. From the main page, clicked on the “enter here” button and it brought me back to this page, where I do not see an entry button.
Thanks for your assistance.
Tammy says
Hey Shannon, THANK you so much for letting me know about the link….I can’t see what everyone else sees…have notified the “tech” guys and we’ll get this fixed! Thanks again!….And I agree about the random drawing…how could I choose one over another?

This contest is amazing!! I’d love to be able to have this opportunity!

I think it’s pretty amazing too! Thrilled that we had people who volunteered their services to make this even better! Good luck Tiffanie!

I am a military wife with 4 kids under the age of 10. I am also a full time student midwife. Life gets super crazy and busy. A little “me” time would be so awesome!
Tammy says
Nicki…I needed a little me time after reading you had 4 kids under the age of 10….ha! Good luck!
Andrea Barnhart says
I am an Army Wife of 21 years, and the mother of 6 children, four of whom are adopted. I definitely need a makeover!
Tammy says
First of all…Army wife of 21 years…congrats (and I bet that has meant lots of moves) mother of 6, 4 being adopted…what a giver! Bet you are ready for some time for yourself…..Good luck!

Hi! I would love to be entered into this contest. My husband in retired, although he would have stayed in if he could have. He still travels as a contractor working on track vehichles (tanks) for the military. He is currently gone for three months. I know that I do not have the same worries as spouses of active duty soldiers but it is still hard. I love my kids very much but winning this would defintely give me a much needed break! Thank you! Good luck to everyone!
Tammy says
Jeni…it’s hard being away from each other! You may not have the same worries right now as active, but I’m thinking you have had your share. I really wanted to honor a woman no matter where she’s at right now in her life….thanks and good luck!
Crystal says
I’m retiring in just over a month and would love some help on how to transition to the civilian world. But like some other folks I can’t find how to enter the contest.
Tammy says
Crystal….by writing your comment…you’re entered! Would love to help you transition…(and thanks for your service!) Good Luck!

I’m an Army wife of 16 years, a mother of 2 beautiful boys, and a full time student. I barely have enough time to cook and clean much less worry with what I’m wearing or how my hair looks. Really could use this to help me out. Thank you
Tammy says
Brandy…your schedule sounds hectic and as most of us do, you probably put the kids first (and everything else)…and then you…some pampering sounds in order…Good luck!
Becky Drake says
I would love the chance to have “professional help” 🙂 to get ready for what I hope are A LOT of good job interviews. My Army husband is being medically retired in a few months and will likely not be able to work due to some injuries incurred over several deployments. I gave up my career in 2009 to be a stay at home mom and feel like I have lost my self esteem and professional edge. Going back to work is exciting and I would be so grateful for this mini makeover to help me regain some of my confidence as I reenter the workforce at age 40+.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter!
Becky
Tammy says
Becky…Good luck…and I don’t think it sounds like you’ve lost your self-esteem! I like how your words are positive…”a lot of good job interviews” and “going back to work is exciting”…Good luck!
Holly says
We would love for our good friend Angie to be considered. She was in a horrific car accident a couple years ago, has endured 2 major surgeries and has another coming up. Since her accident she is unable to work and saying finances are tight would be an understatement. She has another surgery coming up in June and we (her friends) would love if she was able to get her hair done and have a little pampering before surgery and an expected 12 week recovery. She has the most beautiful spirit, despite her constant pain and disability, and we would love it if she were able to look as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside.
Thanks,
Holly, Shawn, Robin
Tammy says
Holly, this particular contest is over but we’ll be doing another one soon and I will enter your friend Angie in it. Sounds like she has some great friends (you , Shawn and Robin). And I hope her surgery in June goes well!!
Rebecca H. says
I would appreciate a makeover since I feel a bit outdated in the current job market. Knowing how to dress to impress, feel confident about myself, and get more active in networking would help A LOT.
Thanks!!!

What is a make over??? I’ve never had one in my 55 years young and would sure be blessed to find me for the 1st time in my life.
Tammy says
Michele…we do “makeovers” where we find something “new” for you to wear and sometimes a new hairdo and makeup…we haven’t had a contest in a couple of months but will be starting our new 2014 contests in February. If you’re in the Colorado Springs area, I hope you enter!
