Meet Gia,our latest model for back-to-school clothes from Goodwill. Gia’s 10, soon to be 11 in a couple of weeks and starting 6th grade this year. Gia is also our granddaughter so she got a few extra items! As you’ll see with the progression of the outfits and pictures, she was soon feeling her inner “model” emerge….
This cute blue polka dot shirt really brings the blue out in Gia’s pretty eyes. Simple yet cute. You Heart Kidz is the brand and cost $2.99. She can wear this with shorts, jeans, or a skirt.
Gia likes wearing all types of clothes…from jeans and t’s, to dresses and skirts. She’s got a bit of tomboy in her, yet she’s still girly. She really liked this Jazz Kids dress for $3.99.
We can see that “model” emerging now…This Faded Glory dress is adorable on her and only cost $2.99. She looks all girl here but beat her dad at baseball the other day!
This Emily West dress was another steal at $2.99 and she loved it. Gia said she her favorite subject is science but she really doesn’t like math that much. And the one thing she’s NOT looking forward to this year is homework….I said I don’t blame her!
This black Cherokee skirt ($2.09) and black and white My Michelle blouse ($3.99) was one of her favorite outfits she tried on. I suggested the top might be a wee big but she said she’d grow in to it and that would make it last longer…smart girl! Plus she likes her clothes to be roomy enough so that she can run in them. One of the things she’s most looking forward to about going back to school is the after-school activities she’ll participate in….like volleyball and basketball.
While I was throwing clothes in our basket, Gia looked at the shoes and found these adorable flats that fit perfectly and only cost $2.99. When I examined them, they looked like they had never been worn….literally, the bottoms were as smooth as brand new. So in the basket they went.
I liked this outfit and wanted to try this Xhileration top on myself…thought about arm wrestling her for it, but figured she’d beat me! The top cost $1.99 and the Children’s Place black pants were $2.99. Love the pink zipper on the front of the shirt.
So by this point we had an audience watching us in the dressing room and everyone was commenting on how cute Gia was! These black pants were $2.99 and the black and purple Faded Glory top was also $2.99….Gia really liked this outfit too.
While we were taking pictures and having fun in the dressing room, there was another family in there trying on clothes (two teenage daughters, their mom and the mom’s mom…love families that know how to shop and find great clothes at rock bottom prices!) Anyway, one of the girls brought over this brown I.N. San Francisco top and said she thought it would look cute on Gia with the outfit she was trying on…sure enough, it really added to the look!
These Harry Potter pants ($1.99) and white Gap top (($2.09) look cute together and both pieces will work with a lot of other items Gia already owns….
Then we added the brown shirt over the white, and it really popped ($2.09).
After a day of shopping (we shopped at the Goodwill on Kelly Johnson Blvd.), we put the top down on the convertible and headed off for burgers….Gia had the radio cranked high and sang her little heart out (she loves choir and is a really good singer). As we ate I was interviewing her…my favorite question was how many boyfriends did she have and had she kissed any? She started to respond and then asked, “Is my dad going to read this?”…..Needless to say, I bet there’s been a boyfriend or two…and perhaps a peck?
We got 14 items of clothing and spent a whopping $39.16 (before tax)…which evens out to about$2.80 per item….NOT BAD!
Gia, you were a good sport (she tried on TONS of outfits) and thank you for a fun afternoon! You look adorable in everything!

I was at the store the other day and a friend brought up that she had been shopping at GW and someone was taking photos in the dressing room. I just knew it was you! Gia looks fabulous! It looks like she will be well dressed for school! Sweet blessings! Happy School days Gia!
