Firework shows have been cancelled this year because of the extreme fire danger but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to do in and around our city. And though we are all saddened by the destruction that the Waldo Canyon Fire has caused, sometimes we just need a day to regroup, celebrate the positive and take a breather. The fire is still not contained and there’s still much work to be done. If you feel like getting out, here’s a list of events happening on the 4th. If you have a business or know of an event going on, please feel free to add it to our comments section so folks will know about it.
*We suggest you double-check with each event as the schedules have been changing on an almost daily basis.

There are still many needs in our city, so why not check out the following sites to see how you and your family can volunteer or give. Wednesday would be a great day to spend an hour or two volunteering or making a donation. You can donate, visit an event, or invite an evacuated family over for a barbecue.

And Goodwill is still accepting donations of items needed. For more information on how you can help call 719-867-1117 or simply drop off items you no longer need but someone else could certainly use now to any of your local drop-off sites.
Remember…fireworks are NOT allowed and if you see anyone setting them off, you need to report it.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July!
