It’s always nice to take a hostess/host gift when you’re invited to someone’s house for dinner, and while it’s totally appropriate to gift them with a bottle of wine or flowers, why not get creative and take something a little different? All of these gifts are $9.99 or less and most will last longer than a bottle of wine or flowers and don’t cost more than either the wine or flowers would. I would personally be delighted with any of these gifts…in fact, I might have to go pick some of these up for myself!
These tealight lanterns are perfect for the hostess who likes to entertain outdoors. My son actually bought a couple of very similar tealight lanterns (from World Market) for a friend as a birthday present and she loved them and they looked great hanging outside and then in the winter she hung them in the house. These are made of glass and metal, come in an assortment of jewel tone colors and look pretty hanging from a tree branch or on a deck. Just one would make a great gift or if you have some extra money to spend, at $5.99, you could pick up two.
These whimsical cat/dog wind chimes would delight any pet lover! And they are the perfect size for any outdoor area from a large backyard to a smaller apartment patio. Every time the wind blows and they give off their musical notes, your hostess/host will be sure to remember you and your thoughtful gesture. And at $9.99 they won’t break the bank.
LOVE these “chalk talk” napkin rings. They come in sets of 4 for $9.99 and are on the top of my personal “need” list…I MUST have these! These are perfect for anyone who likes to entertain.
Going to someone’s house and you’ve agreed to bring an appetizer? Here’s an appetizer that takes less than five minutes to put together…take a block of cream cheese, drizzle mango chutney over it, arrange crackers around the mango topped cream cheese and by the time you’ve arrived, the cream cheese will have come to room temp and be perfect for spreading on the crackers. Wrap a ribbon around an extra jar of the chutney and bring it along for your hostess.
I like the packaging of these “take out” dish cloths….no need to wrap. For $4.99 you get three super soft but absorbent 100% cotton waffle weave dishcloths that any kitchen could use. They come in three different colors….warm, cool or neutral hues. *Neutral is always a perfect choice if you haven’t been to someone’s house before.
Occasionally when we dine at someone’s house who have children, I’ll bring along a little gift for the kids instead of the hostess. These touchable bubbles are $2.99 and the bubbles actually harden as they hit the air and won’t pop when you touch them. These are so much fun and would even make a fun gift for your “young at heart” friends who don’t have children.
I’ve included wine charms before as a hostess gift and here’s another set of them for $9.99 for a set of six. I don’t know of anyone who entertains that doesn’t like and use wine charms….helps everyone remember which glass is theirs. These charms come in bright colors perfect for summer. If your hosts don’t drink wine though, skip these!
I liked all of these gift ideas before I started this post and now after writing about them, I’m headed off to pick up a couple! No matter what type of home your host lives in or what their interests are, at least one of these would make a perfect gift and be appreciated. And they’re all under $10.00!
