I recently wrote a post about cute summer shoes for $30 or less and one of the shoes I showcased was from Kmart. Well, it had been years since I had been in to a Kmart store so I decided to visit one and see what I could find at a low price. Overall, I found their prices similar to Target or Wal-Mart for clothes but I really wanted to focus on their accessories and what a great bunch of deals I got! As usual, when I walk in to any store, I headed straight to the clearance sections first.
In the jewelry department (costume jewelry), I found similar styles and prices I could find at most discount stores but they had a larger section of clearance jewelry and really great marked-down prices.
These gold “hammered” hoop earrings are very similar to a pair I have in silver but were marked down to 90 cents! Less than a dollar and they are thick and sturdy, not something that’s going to bend easily or break. They were originally priced at $8.99 and when I saw them marked so low, they were the first item I tossed in my cart.
This pair of silver earrings were the next pair I decided I had to have and at 80 cents, why not? They were originally marked $7.99, which isn’t a bad price, but I wouldn’t have bought them at that price because I didn’t REALLY need them. At 80 cents though, they became a must have! And this design is simple, versatile and will always be in style because they aren’t trendy.
I thought this trio of bracelets were fun and colorful. They’d look great with any summer outfit but could be worn with any fall/winter styles too. They were $9.99 (for all three) but marked down to $2.99…which is what I pay for most of my thrift store bracelets. And they are nickel free and safe for sensitive skin.
These gold hoops are another simple but classic style that makes for a great accessory staple for any wardrobe. The original price was $7.99 but I got them for 80 cents.
This necklace was my favorite buy of the day. It’s very long and can be worn wrapped from two to four times around which gives it a different look each way and can be worn with any neckline. The original price was $14.99 and I got it on clearance for $1.99! A fabulous find for less than $2.00. And on the day I shopped, they had at least ten of these in stock.
I have lots of friends who spend big time bucks on their sunglasses but I don’t because I usually end up breaking or losing them. A couple of years ago, after losing a pair of $60 glasses, I bought a pair at the Dollar Tree. Of course since I only spent a dollar on them, I haven’t lost or broken them! But they also weren’t helping with the sun glare (you’d think after two years of squinting behind them I would have already bought a new pair.) Anyway, the day I went shopping at Kmart, they had all of their sunglasses on sale for buy one pair, get 1/2 off the second pair so I bought two pairs. Each was priced at $9.99 so after buying both pairs, they ended up costing me $7.49 and they both offer 100% UV protection. Watch, since I spent “so much money” on them, I’ll lose them! (And probably never lose my dollar pair.)
Now for the reason I stopped in Kmart in the first place…to check out their shoes! I admit, I don’t NEED shoes but I actually do need some new styles with more reasonable heels. There was a time I could hike or run in heels and wore them every single day, all day long and felt and looked great. Not so much these days…after wearing a pair of 3 or 4 inch heels, my knees swell and my legs hurt (which doesn’t stop me from wearing them, I just do it less often). So now I’m always on the lookout for cute flats or wedges, which don’t hurt me and still give me some height. Kmart was also having a sale that day on shoes with a buy one pair, get one half off special so I picked up this cute pair of flowered wedges which were priced at $19.99
… and this adorable pair of sandals which were priced at $16.99. With the savings, they cost $14.24 each and I can wear them both with pretty much anything. And the sandals are in one of the hot colors for summer.
When browsing the health and beauty aisles, I found this Jordana nail polish that looked just like one of the colors I had just seen in one of my fashion magazines. It cost $1.99 and the color is called “Boy Oh Boy”….this will look great on my toes with my cute new sandals!
And for my final purchase of the day, look how cute this straw hat is. This would look perfect with a pair of capris and casual tank or a summer dress and it only cost $6.99. It’s stylish and will protect my face from the sun. AND it will look great with my pair of sandals! Great for any outdoor activity.
I can’t promise that the clearance items I found will be at your local Kmart but you can check out your store and see what they have to offer. You can also go online and type in clearance jewelry and there’s a ton of great bargains. I was happy to revisit a store I hadn’t been to in years, got some great deals, and now have some fun and fashionable accessories for the summer. What a tough job this is!
