One of the things I look forward to every summer is going to our local farmers market. Of course I go because there’s nothing like fresh vegetables and fruits at a good price but I also enjoy the whole “experience”.
I like to go early in the morning while it’s still cool outside and typically go with my husband (so he can carry everything!) or my friend Sarah. We usually start at one end, walk through the whole market to see what everyone has to offer, and then backtrack and buy. I enjoy seeing and smelling the freshness of the produce, talking to the growers, and mingling with other people.
My only problem with going to a farmers market is that I usually buy way more than I need because everything looks so good! So now, before I go, I check with family and friends to see what they are interested in and we split up my buys.
Here is a list of the different locations and times of our local Colorado Springs farmer’s markets. So if you haven’t been to one or it’s been a while since you last visited one, check them out….it’s a great way to spend a couple of hours with the kids, a friend, or even by yourself. *And if you don’t live in Colorado Springs, you can find a farmers market in your area by Googling your city and the words “farmers markets”.
