Teresa’s our latest thrift store fashion model and she found some great deals at the Goodwill located on Kelly Johnson Blvd. I have to say, it’s been a couple of years since I visited that location and it made me remember that each location can have such different types of styles and brands. This particular location had fabulous evening dresses with styles perfect for cocktail or formal events. So if you’ve only checked out one location, you should visit some others…just to see what they have to offer.
Classic Black Skirt
This first outfit Teresa has on (and that she bought) looks great on her and really flatters her figure.
The skirt (W Wrapper) hem is perfect for her and fits her great. She can literally wear this year round and with pretty much any type of top. It is one of those staples that will stay in style year after year, season after season. Love the black with white circles top we found to go with the skirt.
The v-neck flatters her face and she can also wear this with dress pants or jeans. Both pieces are versatile and timeless. The top (Jones Studio) cost $3.99 and the skirt was priced at $3.99 but was half off that day so she got the whole outfit for $5.99.
Bold Prints
Teresa, who is a loan negotiator, isn’t afraid of color and bold prints….she looks great in them and is a perfect example of how a shorter woman can wear prints if she wears the right ones (which she does!)
This JTB top is definitely bold (and beautiful on her) but she balances the whole look with the skirt. Again, the skirt length works perfect for her and the entire ensemble makes her actually look taller than she is. This top was$3.99 (along with the $2.00 skirt.)
Flower Power!
Another example of how a shorter woman can pull off a bold pattern and not look overwhelmed.
The dress is the perfect length for her, which is one reason she can pull off this design. If it had hit her at mid-calf, it would have been too much for her stature. She’ll also want to keep the accessories to a minimum.
This is light and airy but with tights and a sweater, she could also wear it this fall. The dress is by Amanda Smith and was marked $7.99 but was on sale for 30% off so she paid $5.59 for it.
Formal Finale
And for the grand finale…..Teresa attends a yearly business conference which includes an evening where formal attire is called for. And look at what a gorgeous dress she found…perfect for this year’s conference.
This rich shade of blue is a perfect complement to her skin tone and fits her as if it were custom made for her! Stunning! The dress brand is Bari Jay and after going online, I found that most of their dresses like this cost anywhere from $125 to $250….this dress was priced at $12.99 but wait….it too was on sale at 30% off so she paid a whopping price of $9.09 for it!
Teresa bought a few other items, including a gorgeous formal for a friend, and walked out with a bag of great fitting and stylish clothes that included two formal gowns, four tops, two skirts and a dress for a grand total of $40.14 (before tax)….not bad.
