Saving $$$: A Family Tradition
A family that knows how to save money on clothes by shopping at thrift stores AND look stylish! Mom/Grandma Cindy shops for herself, her daughter Sarah and grandsons at Goodwill, ARC, and The Salvation Army. Cindy has a great eye for good labels and typically will only buy when she finds something she likes that’s on sale for 30 to 50% that day…she’s like me – we’ve become so cheap that if a dress is $7.99 we think that’s too expensive and will wait till it gets marked down more (unless we just HAVE to have it right then!) Ha!
Cindy (in the black dress with flowers) paid $3.99 for this adorable dress at Goodwill. It’s a great fit and style for her and just looks so spring/summery. Perfect for anytime. My dress (black and white striped) was also $3.99 from Goodwill. Love the trim on it and it is so comfortable. With flat sandals it looks casual but throw on some sexy heels and change-up the accessories and it’s perfect for a night out.
Sarah also has a great eye for style and how to get the most bang for a buck. Can you believe she had a baby only a month ago? Her brown and white dress is one of my favorite styles because it can be worn in so many different ways….spring, toss a little sweater or cardigan on with it, fall/winter she can add tights, boots, and a sweater and she can dress it up or dress it down. Sarah’s dress actually still had the original price tag on it and had never been worn. It came from Ross with a sticker price of (compare at $49.00, Ross price $13.99) but she got it for $3.99 at Goodwill. The $13.99 price isn’t bad but hey, $3.99’s even better!
Our grandson Judah is in head to toe Goodwill/arc. Look how cute he is in his “camo” shorts (49 cents from Goodwill), his Spiderman shirt was 99 cents from Goodwill and the sandals were bought at arc for 99 cents….fyi…the Easter basket came from Goodwill for 49 cents and the green jeep vehicle was part of his Easter basket which cost $1.99.
Grandpa Mark (Cindy’s husband) also has thrift store on…they really do keep it in the family! Mark’s shorts (Sport’s Highland Outfitters) were $3.99 as was the shirt he has on, both bought at ARC.
And here’s the newest addition to this thrift store wearing family……Greyson! Greyson’s outfit came from Goodwill for $1.99. The brand is Carters, it looks brand new and he’s certainly not going to care that it has been “gently” worn before. Baby clothes (in my opinion) are one of the best items to look for at thrift stores because babies grow so fast, they grow out of the clothes before they get worn much and usually look new.
Grandmas, moms, daughters, (mother in law too), grandsons and grandpas….nothing cost more than $3.99 and everyone looks great and again, you’d never know any of these outfits came from a thrift store…..
