Christine’s a school teacher who has been the same size for many years but had fallen in to a fashion rut (like a lot of us do) and didn’t shop for clothes that often since everything she owns still fits. But, when you shop at the thrift stores, the prices are so good, you can treat yourself to something “new” and not have “buyer’s remorse”.
Christine, my girlfriend Cindy, and I met up at the Goodwill on Circle and spent (like our last makeover) about an hour going through the racks and loading up the cart. Since Cindy and I know Christine and know what she usually wears, it was actually a little more difficult picking something out that was different versus picking something out for someone you’ve never met…
After about an hour of trying on clothes we had it narrowed down to two outfits. This first outfit is a striped shirt-dress that looked great on her, complimented her figure and was something she could wear to work or out on a date.
The brown leather, strappy shoes she has on in the picture are Antonio Melani and would normally cost $80 to $90….these were $4.99 and in pristine condition. And she said they were very comfortable. (They were as soft as butter!)
And even though she looked fabulous in this dress, it did tend to bunch up as she moved around so instead……
She ended up getting this dress which is an “All That Jazz” brand and cost $7.99. The colors are current, warms up her skin, gives her a glow and fits her perfectly. We found this coral tangerine colored simple bead necklace that gives the whole outfit some punch and look how cute these shoes are!
BUT….even though the shoes were cute, she ended up not getting them because they were a little tight and you know what….if you’re not comfortable in something, chances are you’re not going to wear it. However, the brown Antonio Melani shoes from the first outfit looked great with the dress too and she could swap a brown or metallic necklace to make the outfit look different.
We ended up getting the All That Jazz dress (I’m sure her husband’s going to love it), the necklace ($2.99) and the Antonio Melani shoes….(I forgot to get a picture of her in the dress with the brown shoes on!) The cut of this dress will always be in style, she’ll be able to wear the shoes with pretty much anything she already owns, the dress is cute and sexy by itself but she can add a little sweater or cardigan is she wants in the cooler weather and the necklace is one of this springs hottest colors….for a total of $ 15.97!
Christine said if she had been shopping by herself she would never have even tried the dress on because it’s not like anything she owns…that’s the beauty of these shopping trips! And thanks to my friend Cindy* for helping out today…I’m really blessed to have such great friends that enjoy helping me help other women! It was a great day, Christine looks wonderful and I’m looking forward to our next makeover!
