It’s not all about me…
Ok, so I’m not always shopping for myself when I’m at the thrift stores (even though I consider it “research” and not really shopping!). While on my most recent “Goodwill/ARC spree” I decided to look for some things for a couple of the men in my life.
Go forth in comfort, young man!
For my son, I found this pair of basketball shorts for $1.50 and this black Jerzees t-shirt for $0.99 (both from Goodwill). Nothing that “special” but something he’ll wear hanging around his house and both were in perfect condition. He’ll never know I picked these up “used” (well, not until he reads this!). For younger boys and teens who are rough on their clothes, getting thrift store clothes are the perfect way to go…they are so cheap, you’re not going to get mad when they’re being “boys” and something gets ripped or stained.
Should be illegal…
For my husband, who wears a suit and tie to work everyday, I found these “steals” …..
This black and white striped BCBG dress shirt cost $2.99 and the black and white Merona tie was $1.99 (from Goodwill). His dress shirts typically cost $30 to $50 each so this was a great buy.
Bought this blue Geoffrey Beene dress shirt at Goodwill for $2.99. I normally buy this brand at Macy’s (when it’s on sale of course). This style usually runs about $52.00 (saw that they are on sale right now for about $36.99 but I got it for $2.99! And the tie I paid $2.99 for, which is a Kenneth Cole tie (also from Goodwill). Kenneth Cole is an excellent brand and my husband likes his ties.
Another Geoffrey Beene dress shirt (in green) that I picked up on the same day at Goodwill for $2.99. When I saw these shirts they looked like they had never been worn. I’m thinking someone got them as a present and they didn’t fit or the man didn’t like them or….? (I like to make up stories in my mind as to why certain things get donated! ha!) And this red tie is also Geoffrey Beene tie that was $2.99. My husband is in the public eye a lot so he has to dress nicely….again, no one would know these came from a thrift store (but now they will).
Tammy’s Tip ‘O the Day!
*Always check the collar and cuffs for fraying and the underarm area for stains.
And now, for my babies…
While shopping for my husband and son, I also picked up a few things for our babies….three cats! Found the pirate ship at ARC for $6.99 and while that was more than I paid for any of the clothes, it was worth it! This is of course our “ham” cat Fergie who thinks she’s the captain of the ship in our house!
The cat carrier I got at a garage sale for $3.00.
And I got this cat scratch post for $3.00 and water bowl for $1.00 at the same garage sale (didn’t NEED the water bowl but I liked it).*Always clean and disinfect anything you buy for your pets before bringing them in to the house.
And then just for fun I have to show this picture….(because I love animals and they love me.) This is our next door neighbor (the dog), Miles. He comes over every day for a Milk Bone (we don’t own a dog but we buy bones every month!) And our cats love him.
The chair the cats are sitting on is from a garage sale I picked up for $3.00 so the picture kind of fits in with the story! And our little black and white obviously isn’t on the “same page” as the others….he’s a little “different“.
