I was flipping through a magazine and saw an ad for Target with really cute clothes and shoes in great spring colors.
Skinny Jeans
At first I couldn’t even believe the skinny jeans and shoes were Target because they looked more like some of the designer brands I’ve been seeing for $100.00 and up (for both)…so I had to go check everything out. It’s been a long time since I’ve shopped there for clothes (except for children’s) so I went with high hopes of snagging a deal and plenty of time to browse. The first thing I looked at were the skinny jeans because I was loving the colors and they looked great in the ad… compared to J Brand!
Of course the Target brand is not made as well as the J Brand but we’re talking about a significant difference in price and the Target jeans weren’t poorly made, I just couldn’t find any that fit me. The first pair I tried on I couldn’t get up past my knees and the next size up was way too big in the waist, but still pretty tight in the leg. I think a taller, leaner, and younger woman (than me) could totally pull these off. And they come in lots of bright, colorful colors. This would be a “do” in my books for someone in their 20’s or even for someone in their 30’s.
Summer Dresses
The next thing I checked out were the summer dresses and skirts. Again, great choice of colors and styles but I walked away empty-handed in that department because the material was pretty thin and showed every bump, bulge, and wrinkle.
If I had been wearing Spanx, they probably would have looked better but I don’t want to wear Spanx under a “comfy” cotton dress. But again, I think this was more an “age” thing and someone younger, with a more toned body could have and would look better in these particular styles.
Summer Shorts
I did find a style of shorts that were great fitting, well made, not too short (I wear small sizes so usually the shorts are WAY too short for me) and will wash well. They are the sateen cuff style, made of cotton and spandex, come in black, white, light cocoa and burning rose colors and usually cost $17.99 but are on sale now for $14.99…these are “dressy” enough to wear out on a date but comfortable and casual for just hanging out in. Very versatile.
And if you want to add a pop of color without spending a lot of money, tees and tanks are always an easy and inexpensive option. Listen to some of these colors-blue bayou, fresh raspberry, peacock and aqua dance….just love the names! Target has a huge selection of colorful tops you can pair with jeans, shorts, and skirts. Add a cardigan or sweater and you’re ready for the “office”. They come in solids and prints, you can choose from tanks and tees with boat-neck, scoop-neck, v-neck and gathered necks and they are on sale right now for $6.00 to $9.00.
The Shoes! Fabulous Shoes!
And the shoes….they were better than I expected! I checked out the quality and couldn’t see much of a difference from shoes I was looking at last week at Macy’s and Dillard’s and I thought they were well-priced for what you’re getting.
LOVE these Mossimo espadrille wedges! Any color that “matches” your skin tones are going to elongate the leg. The taupe and black will work on anyone, are neutral so you could wear them with everything and they also comes in coral and turquoise…I wanted a pair in every color. And wedges give you height but are comfortable.
Pumped for These Pumps
Look how fabulous these platform pumps are! Beautiful, jewel-tone color selections, great heel and a reasonable price….(these would look great with those skinny jeans!)
I did walk away with these SO CUTE animal print flat sandals…on sale for $19.99!!
