Still need a little Valentine’s Day something for the man in your life? Here are a few ideas that might spark an idea for something similar you could purchase or make. For example, I think buying a 6-pack of craft beer for a beer aficionado is a great idea but since my husband prefers wine, a nice bottle of Cabernet would be something he’d really appreciate. If you want to give him a gift that will last for years to come, pick up a “manly” cactus or succulent he can keep in his office, which won’t require a lot of care. (Bonsai plants make for great gifts too but require a bit more TLC.)
A Valentine’s Day gift doesn’t have to come in the shape of a heart and can in fact, be practical but still romantic. My husband and I have spent some of our most romantic and enjoyable evenings in our own back yard, drinking wine while we grill. A new set of barbecue tools or barbecue sauce, along with a card that says something like, “Looking forward to grilling up some fun with you, Valentine,” is something my husband would really like.
Just think about the man you’re buying for and what he’d like versus what the “ads” suggest would be a perfect gift. If you think those red silk boxers are sexy but know fishing lures would be appreciated more, buy the fishing lures and make them “romantic” with a note that says, “To the best CATCH ever,” or something like that.
