October Hostess Gift Ideas….From Oktoberfest to Harvest to Halloween…All $10 or Less

It’s nice to take a hostess gift when you’re invited to someone’s house for dinner or a party. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive…just a little something that says “thank you”. Here’s some inexpensive ideas for the month of October….from celebrating the harvest season to enjoying the flavors of Oktoberfest to of course, Halloween. And with prices ranging from $1.00 to $9.99, there’s something to fit everyone’s budget.

This glass pumpkin, featuring antique mercury glass, makes a nice accent piece for any room of the house. This is on sale at Kohl’s for $7.99 right now.

If you have a friend that you visit on a regular basis, you don’t have to go to “extremes” each time with a hostess gift. A simple candle is a nice touch that just says, “I was thinking of you.” This natural soy blend candle (pumpkin spice scented) is only $1.00 at the Dollar Tree and will burn up to 25 hours…giving your hostess hours of holiday aromas this month.

I thought these scarecrow figurines were so cute! And they can be displayed during October and November. These were $1.00 each at the Dollar Tree.

Oktoberfest!

October is of course the month that people celebrate Oktoberfest….which means German foods and beers…

This package of Huober Prinzess Pretzels are made in Germany. These make a wonderful snack and come in a package of 10 large-sized pretzels for $5.99 at World Market.

And if you wanted, you could pair the pretzels with this Develey Mild German Mustard ($1.99 for 9.2 oz). It’s made in Germany with hand ground mustard seeds, vinegar and spices. Established in Germany in 1845, this is a national favorite. And each Mild Mustard comes in a lovely drinking glass that can be used when the mustard’s gone…for only a $1.99! Also from World Market.

For beer lovers, why not bring a six-pack of German beer….Cheers Liquor Mart has (among many), three German beers under $10.00.

Becks Oktoberfest ($8.49 for a 6 pack of 12 oz bottles) is only available in September and October. It’s a very nice, hoppy brew with a rich, roasted malt flavor. Clear and bronze colored, with an aroma that’s malty sweet with hints of apple and roasted nuts.

Bitburger is a delicately tart but pleasantly bitter pilsner with a strong hop taste. It’s (at Cheers Liquor Mart) $9.49 for a 6-pack.

Another German beer available at Cheers Liquor Mart is Paulaner Salvator ($9.99 for a 6-pack of 12 oz bottles). Salvator pours with a medium butterscotch colored head. The clear body is a deep amber. It’s aroma is full of sweet toffee with round flavors of malt, toffee, bread and hints of coffee.

And if you’ve got an extra couple of bucks, you could include some pilsner glasses with the beer. The Dollar Tree has some nice selections at $1.00 each.

Halloween

Here’s a few Halloween themed gift ideas….

Candy corn pot holders or an oven mitt (or both) are cute and practical. I found both of these at the Dollar Tree. The oven mitt is $1.00 and the pot holders come in a pack of two for $1.00.

This colorful “boo” hand towel would look cute in the kitchen or a bathroom. I found this at Hobby Lobby for $7.99 but it’s on sale right now for 40% off so it was only $4.79.

And last but not least….I love decorative butter/dip spreaders and have different ones for every season and holiday. They just add a festive touch to a buffet or dinner table. I also found these at Hobby Lobby. The original price was $13.99 but with the 40% off sale, they were $8.39.

So whether you have $1.00 or $10.00….all of these ideas would make nice hostess gifts.
